Without Wings

Depravity griped my life, replacing my hopes with thoughts of fear, as the mist was taken on. Enveloping me, taking me whole. Every dream seemed to be there, from the big to the small, everything I had held dear. But as I drew close, everything changed. The mist was now but a ghost. I reached out as if to grab it, to never let go. For the dreams that I had were all that was left of a broken hope. This darkness had become so old, that I had forgotten the light, only doing what the enemy told. But even through my tears, I saw a speck of light, to dim to see anything by. But the speck began to grow, so unhindered by the dark, it seemed that by it I could fly. I was bitter towards that light, as it had something that I needed. It was too far away, and it would not come to me no matter how much I had pleaded. It didn’t know it was different from the man lying on the ground. Both existed and listened through their heartbeat, and the heart breaking sound. I was afraid to grasp the light, that I might scare it away. But I knew if I didn’t it would get bored with me, so I invited it to stay. It replied with a simple yes, although I still don’t know why. But with every passing second, the light seemed to grow in even my own eye. I could not see my hand, but saw something instead. An arm pointing to the light, and not to me instead. And as I turned my eyes to see, an arm was outstretched. Only then did I realize my own was sitting, waiting for my decision to be etched. I reached forward again and stopped, I could travel no more. But the light came and showed me the key to my chains, while the hand showed me the door. Through the door become light and it was so hard to see. I had been in the dark so long, that it took me some time to realize what it was that had helped me. It was not just a hope, or any of the old good things. But an angel sent to me without her wings.
