Twin Horizons

Hope begins to fade as the lonely hours come,
Birds hiding from the darkening sky,
The day drawn to a close.
The wind gathers in force,
There is to be a showdown tonight,
Our battleground chosen and lines drawn in blood.

There is a cry for war,
A cold mighty thunder shook the sky,
I faced an enemy that wished to see me silenced.
I saw no end to the line of screeching specters,
Their swords wet with the lives of friends,
And I stood this night alone.

Their line began to advance down to where I stood,
With every step the night grew darker,
The black noose growing tight.
They said it was suicide to be,
That one alone cannot hold back the flood,
And I looked up to see the last of the light wilt from the sky.

Drowned in a sea of black,
Escape and mercy no longer an option,
Hearing the final rush as the night flew upon me.
It was over before I could raise a hand to fight,
And although I knew not why or how,
They could not touch me.

I was drawn from the mire while claws sought blood,
No hand could reach through the aura,
They had lost their futile war.
The battleground far below,
Climbing towards the new unknown,
Following the path that was set by fallen brethren,

My eyes towards Polaris.
