Wind Unseen

Stepping out the front door was the beginning of his journey today,
But he knew not where it was going to end.
An uneven sidewalk from the roots of old and wise trees,
Puddles of water from last night’s rain.
There was a freshness in the air,
One he had never felt before.
He felt things were changing,
And the trees were turning bare.
His heart was matching the season,
And the weather was growing cold.
Leaves lie on the ground,
A pile of memories and days gone by.
But there were more than the oranges and reds,
A few greens followed his walk as well.
