You Put the Wrong Label on

(Shakespearean Sonnet)

Why do you put a label on me?

Can’t you see I’m not who you perceive me as?

You judged me before and that’s how it will always be.

There are so many secrets, things that you seem to bypass.

Why can’t you look beyond my first impression,

And see me the way I see you in my thoughts?

Every time we meet, I have to hide my true expression,

Because everything you have judged me as…I’m not.

You think I’m day, but I’m actually night

When I’m with you, I feel like a fake, not at heart.

On the outside I might look like I’m all right,

But on the inside, I’m falling apart.

You’re not someone I want to lose,

So next time before you judge me, take a walk in my shoes.
