My Book, My Baby
“Can I borrow it?” he asks.
“Of course!” I hand the book to this Isaac, is it? He takes it from me and continues to talk to my friend. Suddenly, realization dawns on me. My book, my baby, my most cherished treasure in the world (besides my Zune) is now in the hands of a stranger. I blink rabidly, trying to register what just happened. Deep breaths, deep breaths, I repeat in my head. I can not get the book back, for that I am not that kind of person.
“Liza?” My friend hits me, trying to talk to me.
“I just gave Twilight,” she nods, “to a COMPLETE stranger!” I try to steady myself, by holding on to the nearest table. She gasps, pulls on her mask and cape, as I do the same. We spot Isaac and immediately tackle him to the ground, prying Twilight from his grasp. As my friend, Sarah, repeatedly hits him with her own book, I plop down on the ground, ready to read Twilight yet again, growling to anyone who comes near.
