Hardwood floor

Hardwood floor magnolia ceiling
I'm laid where you left me absently dreaming
The nights and the days
Seem to creep away
To say I'm nothing without you
Is something I could never do
But the fact remains, since you left I haven't moved

I'm staring at the walls you tore down
These simple slats aren't solid ground
Laying awake
Playing the pity game
And I wish I knew, what you deserted me for
Until then I lie broken on this hardwood floor

After all I was, to you a pretty face
Now a faded shadow in your wake
Absent and vacant, a little like you
Perhaps that's why I love this room
My sanctuary my own personal asylum
Stolen moments of perfect silence
My sense of passion in tatters at your bedside
And this is for every tear I cried

I'm staring at the walls you tore down
These simple slats aren't solid ground
Laying awake
Repeating your name
So turn down the lights and lock the door
Leave me broken on this hardwood floor

My breathing slowed, I close my eyes
My broken heart beats and I'm barely alive
Your face haunts my every waking moment
Stalks me in my dreams
It does me no good to dwell upon it
However cruel reality can be

I'm staring at the walls you tore down
These simple slats aren't solid ground
Laying awake
Playing the pity game
And I wish I knew, what you deserted me for
Until then I lie broken on this hardwood floor

I'm staring at the walls you tore down
These simple slats aren't solid ground
Laying awake
Repeating your name
So turn down the lights and lock the door
Leave me broken on this hardwood floor
