-1No Bird Flies Forever…

I search across the souls asleep

A-hunt for the one to reap,

Shall I take the child’s lovely dream?

Or the elder’s muted scream?

Ah, but I’m not so cruel

Resting beside this eldritch pool,

To tease a frightened soul.

No, the one I’m looking for

Is turning this task into a chore,

In part because she wanders so

Upon and across my Stygian flow,

Thus cloaking herself in night

Hiding from even my sight,

So focused on her fated flight.

So I wait beside my pool

Patient for the feathered fool,

For when her aching wings give out

She’ll cry to all that’s devout…

But no god can hear her call,

Not beyond the shadow’s wall…

For down below, I am all.

Dark, yes. Truthful, no. Obsessive? Most likely…

Laters,

KD
