I’ve been holding this
Lantern for far too long.
My palm is burning, and
The oil is damn near gone,
And wouldn’t you just know…
Nothing has come of this.

I haven’t heard a word of honesty.
It’s all teenage lust and drama and
Need to understand self
In a world where they say we’re
Supposed to understand everyone else.

Shit.

Am I the only dog left?
It’s too impractical to keep
Carrying this thing around.
It’s damaging my school books
And ruining my homework.
A dog didn’t eat my homework;
She set it aflame.

I built my wall out of
Good, solid bricks
But there was no foundation,
And it all fell in.
There goes the last dog.
