when i was little i drew hearts on paper vampires
and called it love, because no one should be lonely
and you laughed, till there was blood on your lips,
till there was blood on your lips.
when i was little i painted chimneys yellow and my knees
blue waiting for the grass to get a little softer, and the
sky to get a little clearer, i need a sign, i need a sign.
(i'm running around in circle and i need a sign, i need a
sign.)
when i was little i took sunflowers & pencils and tucked
them behind my charcoal black hair, the perfect color for
ashes & poetry. daddy left as a fireman and died a hero
and yeah, i never cried, i never cried.
when i was little i played the piano and violin and trumpet
and harp. i was never good enough to get a record deal
or a star, so i took the stars from the sky and glued them
to my heart, that's why the sky never shines anymore, and
i want to live, i want to die, famous.
when i was little i travels across america on a huge trailer
the size of a bullet, and i met the comedians at new york
and gun men at the city of hope, hope. i swam across the
colorado river on silan's back and i rode donkeys up the
grand canyon where i flew, and fell. mommy screamed for
an hour and i never woke up, i never woke up.
when i was little, when i was little, i never grew up.
