I write of literary tradition

And Venus, and cosmic

Imagery tinged with religious

Expression and the burdens

Of love and empty emotion;

Encouragement of literary traditions

And rhyming couplets and perfect

Form, or free verse and its emphatic

Flow, 'though one should never use "flow"

I weave essays from others' poetry

And despair at my own ever being noticed.

I crave anonymity and independence

And yet – no-one wants to be forgotten.
