The families stopped and turned was the explosions went off in the tunnel. They could hear them from where they were. They were running across the open fields, that would become a battlefield in a few short hours, as they ran towards they’re new home. Xu and Dani smiled at each other. They knew it wouldn’t be long until the boys would be back. They’re guides who had met them at the edge of the tunnel shouted of them to keep up. Tristeza ran alongside them, apologising for attacking one of them. The man understood that they weren’t thinking clearly at the time. There was a deep cut on his cheek to which he was holding some of the material from his shirt as he ran.

Each one of them was allocated a house inside the caves. It was hard; they were trying set up homes while still wondering if the people they loved would come back to them to see it. Xu and Dani were in houses next to each other again. Xu didn’t even bother to set up her house; she just put her stuff inside and went next door to her friend. Dani had Alex’s toys spread out on the floor, she played as her mother and Xu worries about Scott and Gilly.

Tristeza came round after making sure everyone had found their homes, she was worried it had taken longer then they thought for the soldiers to make it down the tunnel. Cheering brought them all running out of the houses. The first of the soldiers were emerging from the tunnel. They were disappointed that Scott, Gilly and the others hadn’t come out with them, but it was early. The soldiers that arrived told everyone about the new aliens that had attacked and what they had seen. Dani and Xu went back inside when they started talking about how some of the soldiers had gone back out to help the others; they knew that Scott and Gilly would have gone. It was what made them love them, but it was what worried them most.

They sat in the kitchen of Dani’s new house talking, Xu started to cry.

“What’s wrong honey? They’ll be here with the next group, we’re all worried.” Dani tried to console her friend.

“Something isn’t right about all this, they said that they would be the first back, Gilly hasn’t ever broken a promise to me before.”

They didn’t have time to worry about what was happening, Loki dropped down from his ledge and ran into the cave. He looked shocked to see them still standing there.

“I heard the explosion, your all supposed to be gone.”

“We know” Alucard shouted angrily “They turned on us, locked us in here.”

They heard snarling coming closer. All of them went for their weapons automatically. Three aliens appeared at the cave opening. Alucard and Ian went to attack, before they got a chance the aliens dropped down dead. The shocked look on their face remained as they looked across at Gilly. The anger was still on his face, both of his guns had smoke rising from the barrels. He slowly moved his hands down by his sides and turned to face them.

“Time for us to go lads.” He holstered his guns and drew his sword, He started to run to the cave mouth, the others followed. They knew that they had to attack or be trapped in the cave with no way out.

They broke out of the cave mouth, they ran straight through the aliens that were at the cave entrance, killing as they went. They stopped where they had started, halfway between the caves and the forest, back to back. Gilly and Loki were shooting and throwing things at the aliens who were surprised by the bravery that the humans were showing. As the aliens found that they were being killed quickly from a distance, they began to attack. The fight became frantic, swords flashed through the sun. Ghiaccio skewered an alien with one blade and protected Ian with the other as Ian plunged the point of his sword into the mouth of an alien.

Alucard was fighting with two swords, his main sword had been left in the body of and alien, he was leaving it there for reserve.

Scott and Gilly shouted at the aliens s they fought, they were so scared they could hardly see straight, they barely had time to react to what they saw, yet somehow they managed to defend themselves.

They were surrounded. Loki’s explosions managed to keep them at bay for a while, but eventually they would attack regardless of what was happening. Gilly attacked to the left defending Scott’s blind side, as he did an alien lunged and sunk his teeth into Gilly’s arm.

Alucard cut the alien down; Ghiaccio covered him as the circle closed with Alucard and Gilly in the middle. Alucard forced the jaw of the dead aliens mouth open allowing Gilly to slide his arm out. Gilly was amazed at how heavy his arm felt, he could barely move it. Ian shouted at them to get back in the fight. Gilly switched his sword to his left hand and held a gun in his right. Although his aim was wildly off now, the noise from the gun seemed enough to stop the aliens for a second at a time.

All of the aliens attacked they were about top be overrun. Gilly dropped to his knees, he couldn’t see, he couldn’t hold himself up. He saw the aliens running towards him, and then the world went dark.
