A

U

Sitting there.

Probably writing a sonnet

To her

For obvious reasons.

I mean

Why not?

She’s perfect.

Except that she’s my best friend.

A

U

I think you’re groovy do you want to see a movie with me?

That’s from a song I like.

Except funny I should ask you to see a movie

Because you asked her to see a movie

And I was there

Coincidentally

And was really excited to see you

And hoped to impress you

Except I probably looked like a ditz

But now I can see it was all pretty ironic.

A

U

I’m not mad.

Probably sad

Maybe even heartbroken

But I’m probably overreacting.

You see, girls do that a lot.

Because maybe this is all just a mistake

But it probably isn’t.

A

U

I’ll be fine

Except you don’t need to know that

Because you don’t know

That all I wanted for Christmas was you

And I sang it so much

And my wish didn’t come true

And now I close my eyes

And all I see is gold.

A, U and I are so tragic, aren’t we?
