Cold Steel Box
On Dani Compose
I know a coffin, I seen it so
I know a town where they feed it, low
In the ground, not buried; an undertow
More than a few, cold steel box
I know their women, they know I know
Showed me the lake where the evidence goes
Caskets full; toys and nefarious blocks
Never ever let go, cold steel box
I seen their graveyard, playful stuff
Beneath the pavement, tore it up
They play hard, play cards, men with gloves
Visit once a day, cold steel box
Never heard of children, they don’t like kids
They’d heard some noise so they popped the lids
They’ll never stop wondering what they did
Just lock the doors, cold steel box
They love me, hug me, suck me in
Tell so many tales, tug at their skin
Something will happen, something must begin
Go have a look, cold steel box
They need some news, they’re so confused
What hell had wrought them mysterious graves
Something weirded the land, grabbed at the place
Touching at their face, cold steel box
They aged into brooms with things to do
So tired, dried, they tried to use
Their gods; old men with dreaded locks
They never die; cold steel box
I left that place the same way I came
On a midnight train under cover of rain
Somewhere hidden they paint the mother of pain
Back to the fray, cold steel box
