Sophomore

So here's the same story
I'll tell it over again
Even though it's been a year
I'm still another has-been.

There's a whole new group that's going here
And no one looks or sees
I can't believe nothing has changed
No one pays attention to me.

I'm in all sorts of activities
And I surprised myself with most
And still no one knows my name
So there is nothing for me to boast.

I'm in the middle of the grades
Our grade color is boring old white
They say we still have time left
And our future is far from sight.

Well maybe I don't like being in the shadows
And everyone else seems to be in the sun
I feel like the only one in my grade
Who hasn't had their turn to have fun.

I want to make a dent in my class
Will I ever get my time to soar?
Because in the mess of this high school life,
I'm just another sophomore.
