Not your average teenaged disaster,
just your average falling star.
I’m a cliché wrapped in newspaper,
the hare behind the turtle, not so far along.
But oh, this is me
and this is who I decided to be.
So whatever that is, oooo,
it’s not you.

I was a paper doll once,
but I ripped that all to shreds.
I was a paper doll once,
but now that act is dead.
You can’t dress my body any longer,
can’t be the leader any longer.
Oh, I’m no paper doll now.

Okay, so maybe I am a teenaged disaster,
but I try to be anything but average.
Just walking down the bleeding sidewalks –
it’s me verses the robots.
But oh, this is me
and whatever I tried to be.
Whoever I tried to impress, oooo,
it wasn’t you.

I was a paper doll once,
but I ripped that all to shreds.
I was a paper doll once,
but now that act is dead.
You can’t dress my body any longer,
can’t be the leader any longer.
Oh, I’m no paper doll now.

So perhaps I am completely ordinary,
falling but not a star at all.
And with my pass in one hand and a cup
of ice-cold memories in the other.
But oh, this is me
and it’s who I think I want to be.
What this is I might not know, oooo,
but it’s not you.

I was a paper doll once,
but I ripped that all to shreds.
I was a paper doll once,
but now that act is dead.
You can’t dress my body any longer,
can’t be the leader any longer.
Oh, I’m no paper doll now.
