i'm not the kind of girl-boy person-thing to laugh
at the little things and pure blue skies,
just happy cause i'm happy and i know i always
stray from the sun til i forget it's there.

and ferris wheels and
cotton candy seem sappy to me but
you made me smile in spite of myself.
i don't know where i'm going, not when we're spinning
in the air in circles and even memories
of dismal octobers and dying inside can't bring me back to earth.

maybe life will be beautiful for me, instead of
just objectively fortunate. maybe the ride
will keep on going forever and (you and) i will
never have to come down, maybe when i look out over the lake

i'll see my reflection in the water and forget to remember
that i'm really all alone right now, and not for a day, for yesterday
and probably tomorrow too.

perhaps tonight i'll close my eyes and just lie there
and know in my mind that i'm still flying with summer breezes
because believing is everything and in the end
a lie is just as good as the truth if you just believe
enough.
