A poem I had to write for literature class. The assignment was to write a song about whatever topic you choose.
“If He Knew”
Single parent, but he’s doing fine
With a teenage girl and a teenage guy
They live a good life just the three of them
He’s a little outspoken but then again
Supporting them is what he does best
He cheers, supports, and fixes the mess
But his opinions might need to take a small rest
The words that were already spoken to them
xx
He’s whishing his little angel
His teenage baby girl
Would someday grow up to be so pretty
And hopefully change the world
And his son, the hockey star
Elected captain for his team
Would get all the girls, and make him proud
But this family isn’t what it seems
xx
(Chorus:)
What would he do if he knew,
That his darling’s best friend was a Jew?
What would he do if he saw,
His little girl playing all the sports, prepared to take the fall?
What would he do if he imagined,
That his son wasn’t a follower of his legend?
What would he do if he thought,
That his son might like a couple boys he’s fought?
What would you do if you knew?
xx
They hide it in secret from him
Not wanting to let him down
To crush his hopes, and all of his dreams
So they let it happen without a sound
xx
Chorus Repeat
xx
His sexist jokes bug them more than a little
And the gay lectures have lost their meaning
In the sea of nameless prejudice feelings
Lost their meaning, they go through life without feeling
xx
Chorus Repeat
xx
What would he do if he knew,
He was losing his baby girl?
What would he do if he knew,
His hockey star was gone?
What would you do if you knew?
A/n.
Hmm, so what do you think? Review please )
