Rabbits to You: Exhibit
All the universe is full of the lives of perfect creatures
But the universe has fallen into dark oblivion
Menfolk bear their horns in front
and women theirs behind
Where have mine gone?
They’re over there, pinned to the wall
Pope John Paul the second is in the eye of a needle,
He managed to pass through without a scratch
While administering ant eggs to one afflicted with (and desiring to fall out of)
Love lies in the chemical composition
White moths are the souls of the dead
Look, they are there, pinned to the wall
The only way out is to say Rabbits to you
Hare hare hare
Don’t forget that bees dislike bad behavior
And menstruous women
While the magnetic oracle is under repair
Nothing is on the wall here
A skeletal dog looks at me
Stabbing cobalt eyes
Not a movement
An electric tingle in the air
He bows forward, head resting on paws
I have to walk away and break the spell
Before they pin me to the wall
For the spore has been inhaled
And I feel the beginning of the new horn
The tinkling bell wheel spins again
Singing me in,
Your exhibit is waiting
Following me endlessly
It is extraordinarily curious
HARE RABBIT HARE
A spoon of spit and duck’s breath
Keeps the horns down
And away from the wall
Quick,
Eat the mice on toast to cure your bed wetting
