Author Note: I changed this chapter a little, so some of this stuff in here may be new! Also I am working on the next chapter and i know that i have not updated this in a long time and I am really sorry!! But the next chapter should be up in a week or so!!

Music was the only thing that I heard once we stepped out of Claire’s car. She took my arm and dragged me to the front door where we were greeted by two guys with beers in there hands.

“Hey Claire,” one of the boys said. They both looked to be about our age. One of them had red hair while the other had brown.

“Hey Matt and Jason, this is Reece, she just moved here,” said Claire, nodding my way.

“Well do you guys want a beer?” said Matt.

“What?” Claire said over the noise of the music.

“Do you guys want some beers?” Matt said again a little louder.

“Oh yeah, sure” said Claire.

“Ahh, no thanks” I said shyly. Everything about drinking repulsed me. It always reminded me of Frank and he is not the person that I want to think about, especially tonight.

“Ok, well be back in a sec.” and just like that they went inside to fetch Claire a beer. After they left Claire turned to me and said.

“Come on lets go inside”

“But what if they come back and they don’t find us with your beer?” I said.

“Oh, its ok they will find us, if they look hard enough,” she said with a little smile in the corner of her mouth.

As we opened the doors the music got even louder. She held my arm as she dragged me through the crowd of people.

“Drew!” she said as we saw him in the corner of the room talking to this boy who I had 5th period with.

She ran over to greet him; however she was still clutching my hand as she ran, which means she made me come with her.

“Hi Claire and Reece,” he said. Claire immediately looked at me and then back at him.

“You guys know each other?” she said looking a little confused.

“Yeah, she is in my first hour and she is going to try out for the swim team!” said Drew.

“Yeah,” I said.

“Well isn’t that something,” Claire said.

“I don’t know if you meet my friend here, but his name is Tyler,” Drew said while looking right at me.

“Yeah I think he is in my 5th hour,” I said.

“Yeah, I remember you, “the new girl,” Tyler said.

“Yep, I guess that would be me then, “the new girl,” I said.

“Well ladies, if you excuse me but I have a very important competition in about 5 minutes so I have to go get ready for that.” said Drew.

As Drew left Tyler followed him into the backyard.

“Where are they going?” I asked.

“Drew and his friends from the swim team do this every year, they have a swim competition or whatever it is that you call it.” Claire said, while I was thinking in my head (it is called a swim meet).

“So are you and Drew like together?” I asked her.

“Oh goodness no we are just really good friends, I see him as my older brother.” Claire said.

“Hey Claire, are you coming to watch the competition?” Bryan said smiling while coming around the corner. But then he saw me and his expression changed.

“Oh look who we have here, are you going to be in the competition too? Since you did say that you where” the best”, we should all see what you’ve got!” Bryan said.

“I don’t know if I want to…I mean I don’t have my suit or anything.” I said.

“Somebody’s a little scared chicken!” Bryans said, and now I could really not see what Claire sees in him.

“Bryan, be nice to her,” Said Claire.

“Fine, you can just watch and see how good I am and maybe you can learn from the best!” Bryan said with a smirk.

“Ha, well see about that.” I said.

“You will!” he said as he was backing up towards the backyard were we found Drew and Tyler by the pool. The pool was humongous, bigger than most pools, definitely big enough to hold a race. Everybody gathered around the pool.

“Ok you know the roles let this be a fair race,” said one boy standing at one end of the pool.

In the last few seconds before the race started Bryan looked my way and gave me a little wink like he was going to prove me that above all he was the best swimmer at Kensington Prep.

“On your mark, get set, go!” yelled the boy.
