I haven’t posted in a while because both of busy schedule and I was writing more so I was ahead of my postings (just something I prefer to do). I might be posting a bit more often, but I don’t know.

Chapter 3

IN. OUT. BLINK. In. Out. In. Out. Blink.

No where near anything new. Not even the early morning/late last night episode could break me from the boring school routine.

In. Out. Blink. In. Out. In. Out. Blink.

Sadye and Brad hadn’t picked up on anything different from me. Either I had mental paranoia, or they are too ignorant to see what’s in front of them.

History class came in a blur. The only memorable moments were Sadye’s smart-ass remarks to the substitute teacher. I sat in a seat in the back of the class and stared at a piece of paper. I don’t know what I was expecting from it; it’s not like I wanted a pencil to write things on the page.

But I did see dancing lines.

Most trippy moment of my life.

If not from Brad knocking on my desk would I have not heard the passing period bell.

“Gynna, bell, locker, geometry,” Brad said. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and started walking to my locker casually but alertly.

Neither of them still didn’t notice my particular behavior during geometry.

The final bell for lunch rand and interrupted my zen-geometry mode. I packed my bag and ran to the door.

“Ms. Harrison?” my teacher, Mr. Lang, called. I turned around and walked back into the classroom and over to Mr. Lang’s desk.

“Yes, Mr. Lang?” I fiddled with my shirt; being called back from Mr. Lang is never a good sign.

“Your test scores seem to be decreasing drastically. Is everything all right at home, Gynna?” The Asian man moved his glasses up higher on his nose bridge. The papers he held within his hands were mine, I could tell, and they showed my not-so-great test scores.

I swallowed and blinked.

“Yeah, everything’s fine. Thank you for your concern, though,” I said while nodding.

“Do you know why your test scores are so low?” he pressed on.

“I don’t understand the concepts very well,” I lied. I did know the skills and standards. I just started my daydreams during the test and they would run too long, therefore giving me not enough time to take the test thoroughly and have to rush my answers.

“Then, perhaps, you should come and see me if you need and help. I’ll be glad to help,” he eyed me a little in the way that ‘I don’t believe you, but I’ll pretend that I do’ vibes came off of him.

“Thank you,” I turned and left for lunch. It was a bit creepy to be there with him. Alone.

“Yo, Gyn, where have you been?” Sadye asked as I sat down to lunch. I shrugged.

“Mr. Lang held me back to ask about my low test scores. Really, I can’t help my daydreams,” I explained, grabbing a turkey sandwich out of my brown bag. Brad nodded and continued eating his sandwich of sorts. Sadye had a small worry crease on her forehead.

“Gyn, are your dazes really that bad that your second best subject in school is slipping? You might want some help.” Sadye bit her own sandwich, chewed, and swallowed. “Your whole G.P.A. will slip, you know.” She was acting like my mother. Again.

“I realize that, Mom, but I can easily get it back up.” I picked at my sandwich, ripping the out skirted meat to shreds. “Really.” I sighed. “I promise I won’t ruin my image. I promise to keep my G.P.A. up to a 4.0 or higher. As usual.”

I threw away my lunch in the nearby trashcan.
