Almost

We’re staring out into the sea, wondering where love has gone,
Our lives wasted into decay of our own touches;
Worn bones eroded by twilight’s cautions,
And kisses into sleep by devoured sorrows.

Our lips are chapped with words tainted,
The prices for past wars taken toll;
Hallucinogens scrapping on tongues, choking on aftertastes,
And we fantasize about before the world was cold.

Biting at our skin,
Leaving it’s imprint within our passion breaks,
Unsurely stone moments consumed in flames,
Our tears are useless atonements.

And we almost made it to heaven
& I swear we almost made it.
