Emily drear said, “Damphir, danphir,
Lend me your ear and I’ll tell you my song.”
And with trembling fear she sang in his ear
Decadent music with words all wrong:

“My kittens are buried deep in the snow
Their broken cries slow and drift weak;
So what would you know of the horrors that grow
From the translucent vines in your cheek.”

Emily drear said, “Danphir, come here
And have nothing to fear but your death.”
As she lay him in earth she gave him a tear
And he drank with his very last breath.
