She’s Third
Liz waits outside to be picked up from school
It’s half passed four; she doesn’t know what to do
The buzzing in her pocket tells her, someone’s callin
Already knowin what had happened, it must be true
xx
Her mama said, “It might be awhile.
This isn’t how we planned our day.
Kemo’s not workin, we’ll be there soon.”
And she didn’t know what else to say.
Ever since the cancer started spreading
Things for Liz had gotten worse
She was never picked up, and she was home alone
But she knew her brother must come first
xx
His hair was almost gone, his head was getting tan
He was failing some classes, and still couldn’t read
With her parents so focused on him, Liz was alone
With no one to care for, without someone to need
xx
Her mama said, “It might be awhile.
This isn’t how we planned our day.
Kemo’s not working, we’ll be there soon.”
And she didn’t know what else to say.
Ever since the cancer started spreading

She was never picked up, she was home alone
But she knew her brother must come first
xx
One day her daddy found some of her writing
And was really surprised at what he saw
He showed it to his wife and together they read
Then stared at her empty bed in awe
This teenage girl that they had raised
Had been feeling somewhat neglected
Had written about their favorite son
And how she always felt dejected
They were horrified with themselves
That she would go on like this without a word
But they were amazed when they realized
That Liz had just put herself third
xx

When Liz got out of school that day
She was surprised to see them here
Waiting in the car, to pick her up
She wiped away a tear

If anyone needs this explained more feel free to PM me!
And I do know it was forced at some parts and I'm sorry about that. I've been working on this for a long time, and it seemed like I would just never get this done. Please excuse my poor attempt in being agressive with myself.
Thanks for reading!!
