I Looked Through a Window

I look through a window

Of a family I hardly knew.

But inside was the universal Family,

A picture of life and hope and happiness.

Outside I felt like an intruder,

An unwelcome guest coming

To beg for help.

Poverty, death and utter hopelessness was all i knew.

I looked through a window,

I stared long and hard.

Where did it go so wrong for Us?

This I wanted to know

We were happy,

Just like them.

We were one,

Just like them.

Will they be with each other to the end?

Turn from the paths we took.

Will their family be united forever,

Or crumble into dust.

Let these people live a life,

Me and my beloved were not permitted to have.

Teach them what life and happiness means,

Before it is too late.

I looked through a window,

Willfully wishing I could have live happy,

Live a life full of love and surprise

A life I am sure they would live.

This was a homework assignment. It's not very good, but I like it. tell me if i should post more or if i should stop writing poetry.

By the way for all of my friends, I was not going emo when i wrote this. I was just a little sad. I had an idea for my other story, Hopeless war, and it was depressing.
