“Bring It Home”

By E.B. Keane-Farrell

I’ve been told that there’s too much to do

For one person to achieve in this lifetime.

I’ve been told that the sun shines bright

And if it didn’t it’d be the end of time.

But I’m just sick of being told

And not finding out for myself.

I don’t want to grow old

And not know things by myself.

- - -

I wanna discover,

I wanna search;

I wanna find my origin and reason for birth.

I wanna know all that’s out there,

And bring it home to me.

Open the shades,

Clear your eyes,

Let the light flood in and deep inside.

Don’t listen to what they’re tellin’ you

And find it out all by yourself.

- - -

Just to learn something out

By seeing it happen is what’s good enough for me.

I don’t need a voice telling me what’s what

If I can see it with my own eyes.

There’s so much out there

That we take for granted.

But why do that when we can find a reason to love it?

- - -

I’m gonna upset the tables of life,

Gonna rip off the bearing blinds

And let all the light seep in.

I’ll soak it up, enjoy it well.

Don’t let the dust settle down

And keep on stirring it up for yourself.

- - -

There’s so much more to life than we care to say

And I can’t even begin to talk about it.

So much to life is coming through

And we just brush it all away.

But if we take it in our arms

And pull it to our hearts

Then maybe we’ll have something great

That will totally change our fate.

- - -

I wanna discover,

I wanna search;

I wanna find my origin and reason for birth.

I wanna know all that’s out there,

And bring it home to me.

I’m gonna find it all out by myself

And not take what they say as truth.

Don’t tell me about what I’m asking

Because I wanna find the answer by myself.

- - -

I wanna find out all there is to know

And maybe delve into more.

I just won’t take it sitting down;

I stand up and see it all.

I just won’t spend my days lyin’ ’round

And I’ll find the truth when I can.

- - -

I’m gonna upset the tables of life,

Gonna rip off the bearing blinds

And let all the light seep in.

I’ll soak it up, enjoy it well.

Don’t let the dust settle down

And keep on stirring it up for yourself.

- - -

All that we need is out there

We just need to find a way to catch it.

If we keep on giving up

Then there’ll be no way to find it.

But if we just hold on

To all that we know as dear

Then surely we’ll find a way –

And if we don’t

We’ll try another day.

- - -

I wanna discover,

I wanna search;

I wanna find my origin and reason for birth.

I wanna know all that’s out there,

And bring it home to me.

I’ve opened the shades,

Cleared my eyes;

The table’s gone and thrown away.

The blinds have been all ripped off

And put out of sight.

I won’t live another day

With people telling me what to say.

I won’t go another day

Without knowing the truth by myself.

- - -

I wanna discover,

I wanna search;

I wanna find my origin and reason for birth.

I wanna know all that’s out there,

And bring it home to me.

I gotta know all that’s out there,

And bring it home

To you and me.
