Vain
Vain.
Pretty.
Perfect.
You think you’re all of these things, but what are you really?
Vain.
Pretty.
Stupid.
You’re the most imperfect of us all.
You stand around with a fake tan, bleached hair, fake nails, and cosmetics that cover what you really are underneath.
Vain.
You stare in the mirror during break, during class, as soon as you get home, applying more foundation, more eye shadow, more mascara, just so that no one can see what you really are.
Pretty.
You’re only pretty when you cover your actual face. You edit all your pictures because you’re afraid someone will see through those baby blue eyes of yours that hold the true hideous feelings that are screaming out.
Perfect. Stupid.
You think you’re so perfect. You make yourself look perfect, but really, you’re an idiot.
Do you think, in the end, after all this is over, anyone is going to care what you look like?
Do you think, once you get out in the real world, the new fashion of clothes or how that eye shadow matches your eyes or outfit is going to matter?
Do you think your husband, after you get married, won’t see the truth behind all those masks you put on?
Vain.
You’re so vain.
You don’t understand that it’s only in high school that people accept vanity.
Vain.
You’ll end up amounting to nothing if you don’t look at what you really are in the mirror.
Take off all those cosmetics, let every single one of those masks fall.
Now, tell me...
Are you still looking at the same person?
