Fears

By seeking weapons of mass destruction,

these regimes pose a grave and growing danger.

They could provide these arms to terrorists,

giving them the means to match their hatred.

And yet we have not witnessed the reduction in violence

one would have hoped for

in a perfect world

The modern world is a threatening place

But we can keep you safe

For just one vote

And your consumer loyalty

A home of the brave

With colour-coded warnings

And zones for freedom of speech

Worried-looking cops

And kids coming home in boxes

But just trust us to tap your phones

The innocent have nothing to hide

This is wartime

And we have to make sacrifices

And what's the Constitution

except a piece of paper?

If we have to torture

to get our answers

No one's going to shed a tear

for these guys

Just so long as it's quiet

It's not someone you know

Being detained indefinitely

After all,

we're fighting them over there

so we don't have to fight them

over here

Aren't we?
