I wrote you name in the sand

And watched as the waves washed it away.

I wrote your name in the air, on the sky,

But could not see it.

I tried to write your name upon the water

Yet the letters would not stay.

The wind (I could not stop it) blew through the air,

It stirred it letters and swept them aside,

Touched its breath to the sea

And dragged its fingers across the shore.

I watched and cried,

Because I knew not where to write you name,

Where it would remain – forever.

Then the wind, it blew again

(for we are all powerless to stop the wind)

And this time touched its lips to my face,

Pointed its fingers at me.

Then I knew where to put your name:

Inside me, upon my heart, within my soul.

From there the wind cannot take it away,

For the wind has its limitations, as do I.
