The Mother Decade

Children,

With their undanceable music

Trying to dance the night away

You kids of the nineties

You don’t understand

I’m from the mother decade

At the tail end

Mind

But still

The mother decade

You try to get me

To dance to your

Nineties music

I refuse

You see

I’m a child of the eighties

A creature of the night

I’m a product of the eighties

I only dance to the music

Of the eighties

And the music of my fellows,

Those inspired by the mother decade
