For A Second
I look in the mirror and, for a second,
just one second, I am beautiful just as I am.
For a second, I wouldn't change anything.
For a second, my heart soars and there are no doubts;
I look away, knowing that it won't last.
I don't want to watch the blemishes return;
I'd rather let the memory fade
than see the illusion stripped away.
For a moment, I didn't need to dream;
didn't need to curse my failure
to exploit my slim sixteenth year.
In that moment, I didn't look forward till
the day I break my sweet tooth;
the month I go regularly to gym;
the year where buying clothes
For just a split second, I saw the girl you see:
my brave knight who gazes at a fairy princess
where I see only a frog.
