And The Crickets Chirped Falsetto

(January 5, 2008)

There is a goodbye in the air

I can feel it on my skin

maybe if I close the shutters

I can keep it from getting in.

Your dust blew away with me

and ran away into the sky

The cold touched me

and it burned a hole right through my heart.

You lied to me like silver

while I was bleeding the pale blue

I caught on fire in purple

and set sail to the West of you.

Your kiss was grapefruit

on barbed copperwire

An orchard of lies in the rain

the puddles of mud blurred my vision

and down to you I came.
