Now..

Honk! Honk! It was the horn coming from David’s car. It’s funny how things happen. I never in a million years thought I would be getting rides from one of the most popular guy in school. You see, it happened about two months ago when we accidently picked each other things up. Since then, we’ve been best friends ever since.

I pulled my hair into a ponytail so I wouldn’t have my hair in my face. I looked in the mirror once more, before going. I opened the windows and yelled to David, “I’m coming!”

I went downstairs, so I wouldn’t have to confront my mother. I end up doing it anyway.

“Hi sweetie how was your day?” she questioned.

“Yeah right, since when did you care?” I said looking down at my toast. I walked out of there and slammed the door. My mom had her “boy friend” over again, which made me mad because I had to help my brother and sisters with diner and baths and stuff. My two oldest brothers and my oldest sister left for college and I wouldn’t blame them either.

I got into David’s car and I hear him talking to someone.

“Who was that?” I asked trying to figure out who it is.

“It was Chip. He and the gang wanna eat and hang out. You in?”

“Yes, I’m starving.” I said. He pulled out of the driveway and headed down the street.

“So whose your current boyfriend?” he asked starting at the road.

“Uhmm..is that any of your business?” I said while picking at my fingernails.

“Could it be?” he said trying not to laugh.

“Uhh..I don’t know. But you and the guys are always bothering me, so why should I tell you when I have a boyfriend?”

“Haha! We were joking!”

“What the freak ever!”

“You say that too much,”

“And your point is…?”

“Just sayin,” he said while pulling into a parking spot at our favorite place to eat: Annie’s Diner.

I had already saw Chip, Bryan and, and Jake’s car. We went into the diner and saw they were already eating, which isn’t surprising. I also saw that they had a girl with them. Wonderful, I thought to myself.

“Let’s see whose girlfriend this is, David” I said very curious. We walked over there and I saw the girl get up and sit in Jakes’ lap, who would’ve known it was his girlfriend (Just so you know, I was being sarcastic). I mean, Jake is the hottest guy in school! David being the second, then Bryan, and then Chip. So, I guess that’s why they hang out with each other. Plus, I kinda have a crush on Jake. Okay, not kinda but a lot. But, I haven’t told him or anybody else, I’m going to try and keep it that way.

“Oh, so, I’m guessing you’re not going to introduce us Jake,” I said with the fakest smile on my face.

“Oh, yeah! Babe, this is David and Alex. David and Alex this is Jennifer, my girlfriend,” he said with the brightest smile on his face. They, then, started making out, I was kind of wondering how they could breathe.

Finally I got enough of seeing them kissing over each other and said, “That’s enough of you two lovebirds. Some people actually want to eat their food without throwing up, ok?” they finally stopped after another min. Then, Jennifer, smoothed her hair and the shortest skirt I’ve ever seen, down. She then, tried to start a conversation with me while I was eating my there pancakes (what can I say, I have a big appetite).

She started, “So, Alexis, where do you put all that food?” I heard the guys start laughing and then I gave them a mean stare which shut them up VERY fast.

“Call me Alex, and uhm..I’m sorry to say that I’m not going to starve myself so I can fit in a size zero, ok?” The guys couldn’t help themselves anymore and just burst out laughing, even Jake. One point for me!

“Well, excuse me. Just askin’ a question,”

You’re excused,” I said with a smile on my face.

As I started to pick up my lemonade to drink it, she added, “Well, I’m just telling you, that you look like a fat pig eating three pancakes, when you’re probably a size four, maybe a size three,” she said with the biggest grin on her face. So, without even thinking, I threw the lemonade right into her pretty little face.

I then threw my napkin down and told David, “I think I might walk to school, today,” and turned around and headed out the door.

As I was getting read y to run to school, I felt someone grab my wrist. “Let go of me,” I whispered. I then turned around and saw Jake. “What do you want? If you’re going to tell me that I shouldn’t have thrown the lemonade at Jennifer then you can save your breathe and leave.” He didn’t move not one muscle. I wonder what he wants I thought to myself. Maybe he wants to confess his true feelings for me! Okay, probably not, since his girlfriend is in the diner. But, a girl can dream, right?

“Why did you do that?” he asked when he finally let go of my wrist.

“Why don’t you go in there and ask her why she called me a pig?” I said while looking at the ground.

“I think she was just joking.”

I then turned around abruptly, facing him and said, “Of course you’ll take her side!” I then marched back inside and said, “David, can you give me a ride to school? Please?”

He then said, “Well, I’m still sort of eating. But-,”

“I’ll give you a ride Alex,” I heard Bryan say.

“Thanks!” I said with a smile on my face. Me and Bryan always have fun when he gives me rides to school. I don’t know how, but we still do. As I was walking to Bryans’ truck, I saw my hair ponytail holder on the ground. That’s strange, I thought. I didn’t even feel it come off.

I got into his truck, waiting for Bryan to come out. Bryan is about 5 ft 10 and has a six pack. He’s on the basketball AND football team. You’re probably wondering when he finds the time to work out. Well, he usually works out on the weekends and sometimes in the weekdays. His parents are also super rich.

“Here you go,” he said while putting a To-Go box in my lap.

“What’s that?” I said while looking at the box.

“Your food, duh,” he said while putting the keys in the ignition. “I thought you might be hungry after the incident.”

“Oh ok. Well, thanks!”

He then turned down the street to go a shorter way. “So, you up for a dare?”

“Now you know, I never turn down a dare. So, what is it?”

“I dare you to…stick your head out the window and scream I’m the Queen of the World!”

I turned to face him and said,” Are you kidding me? Isn’t that, like, illegal?”

He laughed. “Just do it!”

I got up and put the window down and yelled, “I’m Queen of the World!” I sat back in my seat and closed my eyes.

“You know, you should wear more flattering pants.”

My eyes opened. “Excuse me?” He pulled into a parking space at our school.

“I’m just saying, maybe you could get a boyfriend, if you wore more flattering clothes.” He started to get out of his truck and I followed him.

“Since when did you care if I have a boyfriend? Since when did ANYBODY care if I had or boyfriend or not? I don’t care if I have one anyways. But I’ll talk to you later. Bye!” I started to walk to the front of the school.

“Oooh! Hotte 6 o’clock. Ok I’ll talk to you later Alex! Bye!”

I walked inside the school and saw it starting to get crowder every second. I put my hat on my head and headed toward my locker.
