A Poem For Arie
She wonders what its worth
To indulge in trivial tradition.
She looks to the world
As if the only one
Who absentmindedly
Sees the world in a band of color,
When everyone else only sees
Film in black and white.
The drive it through her brain,
Speaking prejudice words
Condemning her choice in
Friendship and love.
Would life be any easier
If they just saw a girl
And not just her ebony skin.
