I hear the loud banging rhythm of the music from my post outside. Glancing back up the street where my mother's car had just driven away, i walk up to the front door wearily. The words she told me earlier echo with the music. "You stay inside typing away on your computer too much. And you wonder why you don't have friends!"

She had, of course, ignored my attempts of telling her that I, in fact, do have friends. Everytime I tell her this fact about myself, she brushes it off. She dissaproves of my friends, seeing as I confide more in them than I do her. But, they understand what I am going through, they understand why I can't tell her.

The door is jerked open suddenly, and I glance at the blonde girl in silent contempt. She makes a face, "Ugh, what are YOU doing here, Aura?"

"I came for the pary, of course. You of all people, Evlyn, know how much of a party animal I am," I say, casting a flirty wink at the boy attatched to her side. Evlyn stares at me in disbelief. I can flirt, if I so wish. It's just that I usually don't, seeing as all the guys I know are jerks through and through.

Smiling at her, I brush past, into the living room, into the mass of people. I see everyone; the punk rockers, the goths, misunderstood, nerds, jocks, preps, those that believe in the supernatural. Of course, none of my friends are here. Someone rushes past me, and a word on his shirt catches my attention. The 'undead.' That particular word always reminds me of Timmy, of his fascination with vampires. He longs to meet one, and I can understand why, once having gone through a fascination with them myself.

Walking into the kitchen, I glance behind me, not paying attention to what is infront of me. Unfortunatly, I run into Brad. He curses, having spilled half his beer down his shirt. He looks up at me, looking over my outfit before he reaches my eyes. Once again, I silently yell at my mother for making me wear this ridiculous outfit.

"Hey, uh," he starts, searching his pathetic excuse for a brain for my name.

"Aura," I offer.

He smiles, "yeah, Aura. So, I heard you turned 17 last month."

"Actually, it was yesterday." He stares at me in surprise as I continue on. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have other matters to deal with."

Walking further into the kitchen, I open up the fridge, glancing inside. There is more alchohol than anything else, making me wince in distaste. Reaching for a water bottle, I make sure the seal is still on. Thankfully it is, so I open it and take a deep swig. Someone taps me on the shoulder, and I turn reproachfully.

Seeing no one, I shrug, making my way to the back of the house. Sliding open the door, I avoid the various couples dancing to the loud rap music. Walking to the edge of the patio, I sit down, retrieving my ipod. Even though I have it turned all the way it will allow, it does not drown out the music coming from the house.

Putting it away, I sigh. Feeling a presence next to me, I turn, finding an incredibly hot boy standing next to me. Putting on a mockingly polite face, I smile. "May I help you?"

He laughs, "You have spunk along with beauty. I like that in a girl."

Rolling my eyes, I turn my gaze to the forests. He sits beside me, irritating me further. His gaze rakes up and down my frame, over and over, making me tense. Finally, unable to stand it any longer, i turn to him expectantly.

"What?" he asks.

I sigh belatedly. "What do you want with me."

He smiles a knowing smile, "Your blood."

Shaking my head, I turn my gaze back on him, full of pity. "You're one of those satanical kids, aren't you? Well, I'm sorry to say that I'm going to have to decline in giving you my blood so that you can attempt to raise a demon, spirit, or other such demonic rituals."

He laughs spitefully as he rises. "I am worse than a satanist, my dear. I shall be seeing you later."

"Fat chance," I mumble.

Whipping out my cell phone, i check the time. I've only been here for a half an hour. It's not even 7:30 yet. Eying the forest, I dial my mother's number. "Hey, mom, i just wanted you to know that I'm gonna stay later. I'll catch a ride home, bye." I tell the answering machinge, then flip my phone shut.

Standing up, i head off into the forest, the beautiful enticing forest. I've always enjoyed the company of nature to that of humans. My race is so cruel, so inconsiderate of other's felings.

I settle down in a half clearing. Gazing up at the crescent moon, i sink into a half rotten tree trunk. My eyelids half close, so all i can see is the sky, the moon.

Humming reaches my ears, a soft and delicate, yet haunting tune. Unable to stop myself, i hum along, letting it fill my mind. I'm so wrapped up in the song that i don't even notice the source of it walk into the clearing. When the humming stops, however, leaving me by my lonesome, i jerk up, staring at my intruder.

"You? What are you doing here?" The same boy who had bothered me before. "Don't you have anything better to do than terrorize me?"

His once friendly laugh is now cold, sending a frightening chinll down my spine. "As i said earlier, i wish to take your blood. It entices me, taunting me to take it."

I shrink back as he takes a step towards me. A feeling is radiating off him that i hadn't noticed before, something that both warns me off and tempts me closer. Standing, my feet take a step towards him, making me look down at my feet. Taking several steps back, i leten to the words that the boy is saying.

"I promise this won't hurt too much. My kind is merciful in the feeding department."

I stop backing up, staring at him incredously. "Kind? Feeding?" He grins, which has changed as well.

"Vampires."
