Epworth Poems
“Yogurt”
“PLAIN YOGURT”
Is breakfast code
For cottage cheese
In a blender
And cranberry juice is
Okay on waffles
Especially when
You’re too self-conscious
To look for syrup
And just so you aren’t
worried
Every step you take
Sinks into the food-stained
Carpet and is
forgotten.
Author's Note: The Epworth Poems came from a band retreat we did to an island in South Georgia. A LOT of funny and life-changing stuff happened, and later I'll type the whole story and put it up. Maybe. This specific poem was about some yogurt I got at breakfast on the second day. I thought it was strawberry but it was "all-natural plain" and nasty. It caused some odd reflections.
