Chronicles of CSAP- Volume 4, Fahrenheit 451 and endings

Shrieks at the top of her lungs in exultation. Is yelled at by the librarians. Promises to behave.

Sorry. That was me being exuberant because...CSAP is over!!! Yes, I speak the truth! The dreaded standardized testing session is completed! I only have to go through this torture one more time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, before I let go of it completely, I must record the events of the morning for posterity... if posterity cares... which they probably don't... anyway...

We finished w. the reading and writing today. Once again, the reading comprehension problems were pathetically easy. Why do they give you an hour to complete three pages?? No, make it five. Is it because they give you an hour for the math and feel it their sacred duty to do the same with the reading? Do they like to torture us by making us sit in unimaginably uncomfortable chairs with only a book for company? (I love reading, but sometimes, a girl's got to write, and when she's not allowed to, she gets frustrated...) Being who I am, I instantly suspect the last option. Of course they like to torture us! That's a government's job, isn't it?

We got to write three "essays" of a paragraph each on these topics:
What new subject should be introduced in school and why?
Write a descriptive essay that will help a younger sibling/friend adjust to their first day of HS.
Is the phrase, "each day do something that challenges you" good advice or not and why?
Please tell me if any of the above prompts stimulate any creative genius whatsoever? Do they summon up the muse that lurks in your soul? I don't think so. I mean, who enjoys writing about new subjects? I don't. (I told them to put in a figure skating class, if anyone cares).

Now, though, I should get to the other subject of this entry. I'm sure you've all had enough about me b#tching about CSAP, so now I get to go on about something else: Fahrenheit 451. I mean, honestly, do we really have to read it? It's not a good book, it doesn't stimulate me to do anything (except maybe burn the book itself and laugh while it's being done), so is there a point to it? I don't think so, and yet, we still have to read it!!

Being both a procrastinator and lazy, I kinda didn't read the book until this morning. (No, I'm lying. Out of 3 sections, I read the second two today). So since the book is all of 147 pages long (And that's 118 pages too long. The only fun character is a 17-year old called Clarisse, and she dies on page 29), I was truly bored out of my skull for the rest of the time. B/c F451 was my CSAP book, I didn't bring W&P (big mistake). I cracked and came to the library to check out The Valley of the Horses (which is a very good book by Jean Auel, who wrote the Clan of the Cave Bear series, of which VotH is the second volume). However, I checked out every single book (all of 4) in the series last week and read them over the weekend. Thus, there was absolutely no suspense in reading it again (I do love to read books over, but usually after at least a couple months. Then, you've had time to digest the information and you're ready to appreciate the finer details. Twice in 2 weeks is too much and too soon).

Anyway, b/c I'd finished F451 halfway through the 1st test, (no, I'm lying. It was halfway through the 2nd test. Halfway through the 1st test, I finished section 2 and couldn't make myself go on any longer), I had to take out VotH. It was infinitely dull, b/c it's not my favorite of the series. I suppose it's better than nothing, but by the end of the 2nd test, I could have killed something for the right to write something that I was interested in. Unfortunately, no one let me write, and there was nothing to kill. At least the sun's out.

I loath daylight savings...
Farewell, as this blog series is over until next year...
yours truly,
Kyra
