FORGOTTEN

Once in a while we wish
We had a space for playing hearts;
A plateau for the family's gathering.

Once in a while I happen upon
The old rusty felt topped table,
Ripped and dusty and folded
Back behind the shelves that grandpa build
Like just another unwanted sweater
Stored with the unwanted sweaters
In the basement.

Those times never overlap.
