Here I Am, Watching Over You
A Poem Written By
Andrea Kay Mansfield
Dedicated in Memory of Her Father:
Daniel Hudson Mansfield
Here I am,
Watching over you.
You cry for me,
And I cry too.
You miss me I see,
Every single day.
The memories crowd your mind,
In every way.
But here I am,
Watching over you.
You cry for me,
And I cry too.
I didn’t want to leave you.
I didn’t want to say goodbye.
But an angel came and said to me
My home was ready in the sky.
But here I am,
Watching over you.
You cry for me,
And I cry too.
Why do you linger
At my grave?
You know I’m not there.
Be strong my love, and brave.
Because here I am,
Watching over you.
You cry for me,
and I cry too.
I see you there,
From my home in the sky.
I see your tears and I start to cry.
But in heaven
There can’t be any sorrow.
For there is no hurt here,
No sad tomorrows.
But still, here I am,
I’m watching over you.
You cry for me,
And I cry too.
I want you with me,
This is true.
But your time on earth
Is not yet through.
Still, here I am,
Watching over you.
You cry for me
And I cry too.
Someday you will come to me,
To this home in the sky.
I’ll hug you tight,
And never say goodbye.
But for now, here I am,
Still watching over you.
You cry for me,
And I cry too.
As you turn to leave
From my grave.
You whisper something,
And I hear you say.
“Daddy, here I am,
I’m waiting for you.
I know you love me,
And I love you too.”
