Who Knew?
Chapter Ten: “It’s never too late to make it right”
Rating: T (for language and sexual content)

We walked into Nick’s bedroom and he closed the door behind him, turning towards me and grabbing me before I could sit on his bed. He pulled me close, wrapping his arms around my body until I could hear his heart beating against my chest. I sighed and rested my head on his shoulder, nuzzling my lips against his collarbone.

“Can I talk first?” Nick asked quietly.

I pulled back and led him to the bed, sitting on the edge and staring at him expectantly.

“Of course.”

He sat next to me, sighed, and closed his eyes, formulating what he was about to say.

“I’m sorry for everything I did to you, Caitlin,” he started, “I never wanted to hurt you. I don’t know what I was thinking, putting my friends ahead of you—putting the friends that abandoned me ahead of you. You are the only thing that matters to me and I’m so fucking stupid for letting you go. I’m so sorry, Cait.”

He looked up at me, tears trembling on the edges of his eyelashes. I reached out and wiped them away, tracing the curves of his face, the curves I had been imagining all those months without him, the curves I’d never forget. Nick leaned into my touch and kissed my palm. He pulled my hand into his and held it up to his lips, kissing every finger and whispering, “I love you,” to me.

“Can I say something, now?” I asked, hesitant to interrupt the affection he was showing me, but still needing to set things straight.

“Oh, yeah.”

“What do you want our relationship to be? Honestly. No lies.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean…well…. I want this to be exclusive. Remember how it was in the beginning?” He nodded. “I want it to be just you and me, no one else. And I need you to prove to me that I can trust you. You lied to me so many times before, Nick, and I want to forget that. But that means that it can’t happen again. Which means…what are you gonna do about your facebook and those girls that you put ahead of me—Celine?”

I was flustered now, and afraid that he’d scream at me to leave. But he didn’t. Instead, he smiled.

“I already got rid of it.”

“Uh, what?”

“I already deleted my facebook. As soon as I decided to ask for you back, I deleted it. I want what you want, Cait. No one else. Just you and me.”

Nick reached for me and I scooted into his arms.

“This can’t be a lie, Nick,” I whispered into his shirt.

“I’m not lying. I know this is my last chance with you, and I’ll do anything to keep you with me.”

“I won’t talk to anyone you don’t want me to, okay?” I said.

“Okay. It’s gonna be just you and me, right?” Nick asked, a child-like fear edging his words.

“Just you and me,” I breathed out, kissing his neck in between each word. I felt him shiver against me and I smiled.

“You really got rid of your facebook?” I sat up, looking at him with disbelief, still.

“Yes. I swear.”

“You swore before….”

“I know. I want to forget all about what happened before. Celine, everything.”

“Before we do…I need to know…did you cheat on me with her?”

I heard a sharp intake of breath and I flinched, expecting the worse.

“No,” he said forcefully, bowing his head to meet my downcast eyes, “Caitlin, I swear, I never cheated on you.”

My eyes were full of tears threatening to spill over as I looked at him. His face softened as he saw the tears, and he pulled me into his embrace.

“I swear, Caitie…baby….”

My breath hiccupped into a tiny sob. He stroked my hair comfortingly.

“Are you still gonna talk to her?”

“No.”

“You promise?”

“I promise.”

I sat up and looked at him, my eyes hard.

“If I find out you lied, Nick, that will be the end.”

“I know…that’s why I’m not lying. I don’t wanna lose you again.”

Nick pressed his lips forcefully against mine, trying to convince me that his words were true. I hesitantly kissed back, sliding my tongue slowly against his. He scrambled closer to me until I was leaning back on the bed, him hovering over top of me. His left hand rested on my stomach, his other cupping my cheek. His hand slowly moved lower until he was gripping my hip where my shirt had risen to expose my skin.

“I’ve missed you so much, Caitlin,” Nick gasped out.

I pulled back, my lips detaching from his, and said, “I missed you, too, Nicky.”

“Cait?” his breath ghosted across my face and I sighed.

“Yeah?”

“I’ll do anything for you. Anything.” His eyes and face conveyed complete conviction in his words.

“All I want is for it to be just you and me,” I paused, “And for you to never leave me again….”

“How could I ever leave you? You’re the only one I want.” He smiled and lightly kissed me. “I love you, Caitie. Are…are you still my baby?” He asked shyly.

“Always.”

The end? I’d really like to continue writing this, and I will, but if everyone thinks this should be the end, I will just not post the next chapters I write. I’m not sure how far to go with this story. ‘Till the characters get older or just stop now? Well, tell me what you think, and thanks for the reviews!
