Derek’s armoured van had ploughed through the soldiers that hadn’t been able to get out of the way in time. As the back end swung round the doors opened and Ghiaccio jumped out to help Alucard defend.

“Get into the van.” Ghiaccio had shouted urgently to Alucard, knowing that Derek and Jasmine were easy targets in the front. Alucard had spun round and grabbed Tristeza by the stomach as she had been ready to kill and carried her away into the back of the van. Ghiaccio jumped in last and slammed the doors shut as the van sped towards the back of the compound where the other army waited.

Gilly and Mai rode their motorcycle level with Loki. They had left as they saw the van pull away from the fighting so they would all go through the fence at the same time.

“We’re just going to plough through?” Gilly shouted into his mouth piece against the rush of air around him.”

“No, something better.” Loki replied into the communicator that lay next to the steering wheel in front of him.

Mai pulled herself tighter to Gilly as they sped up towards the fence. Gilly groaned audibly as the fence collapsed and the first wave of the smaller army surged towards them. Gilly heard Loki laugh in his ear, and then all other sound was drowned out by massive explosions and the falling of buildings. Loki’s buggy pulled in front of Gilly and ran through the line of soldiers, with the others following.

The falling buildings scattered the lucky members of the army, the unlucky ones were caught up in the blasts or were trapped beneath the falling rubble.

The vehicles and their passengers drove through the ruins unmolested, to safety.
