Gone

11/07/07

Your hair is wild

Your lips are chapped

Your deep blue eyes hollow and blind.

You reached out your hand, and captured mine.

Cold, frozen, and numb.

-

"Stay."

-

Your voice was soft and light,

dancing through the air.

Like twinkling stars,

descending from the sky.

You spoke with a childish innocence

I would never find again.

-

You smiled,

kind, forgiving, pleading.

-

I could hear my frantic heartbeat

echoing in my ear.

My heart pound.

Racing, jumping high as if broke apart.

Crumbling into thousands of tiny pieces,

each carrying one of my promises to you.

-

I wanted to cry.

As I watched your fragile soul glowing.

Brilliantly,

pure, innocent, beautiful,

Yet ever so breakable.

-

Unshed tears are not seen,

and unspoken words are not heard.

I will not cry, so

please, please don't speak.

-

The gentle wind carried away your whispers.

I disappeared into the far horizon.

As the daunting twilight faded

into the warm, rising sun.
