empty everything

in that moment, i thought i had everything
the warm embrace and the comfort of his arms
as he brushed his hands against mine
& traced the lines of my fingers with his fingertips

(how could i have had nothing?)
you filled the void – the emptiness,
at least temporarily with your kiss
then you sucked out my soul &

i became empty again
the confusion & the pain
collided into anger – the
surrealism of my life being whole

memories rushed back to me
the confusion. the pain.
it consumed me. broke me down.
& i swore that i didn’t need you (my everything)
