Prologue

A slow grin spread across Jesse’s face as he leaned back in his chair, his eyes on the wedding picture of Katherine and himself on his desk.

Kim didn’t mind the picture; he had asked her to make it a little over a month after they had gotten married. She’d nodded and silently went to work on it. The picture of Kim and himself was behind the wedding picture.

He rarely looked at it, she wasn’t his prize.

She was just something to fill his time, though she wasn’t doing a very good job at it. The night of their wedding, she’d refused to sleep with him. Instead, she had slept on the couch, and in the morning, she moved into another room, he didn’t see her for a week until it was time for them to leave.

Once they moved into the house, she’d claimed the guest bedroom and made herself at home there.

He still couldn’t figure out why, he had only treated her nice, what right did she have to hold out on him? Maybe letting her in on his end game wasn’t such a good thing…
