The Crack

Don’t we look alike?

You and I—we share the same

Eyes, nose, lips and chin.

I smile, you copy.

We sigh, yet you make no sound.

I wink, you mirror.

Looking head to foot,

I can see no difference,

Save for the thin line

Drawn across your smile—broken.

This flaw you have reflects mine.

You’re an illusion,

And easily breakable.

I see through your mask.

There is a crack in your smile.

I see you for who you are.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall,

You show who I am—

A girl who holds a façade.
