“Hey you alive in there?”
“Please don’t do that.”
“Huh? Why? No matter what I do he just keeps staring blankly at the wall. Does he not understand English or something?”
“No, he understands perfect English. It’s just that he is mute.”
“Ahh…..so that’s his story. Hi, mute person. My name is Sanasuki but everybody calls me Suki for short,” the girl said smiling.
“So what’s your name,” she asked as if she was going to get a response. “His name is Kanuruto,” the doctor answered flipping through charts.
“Kanuruto? That’s a really long name, isn’t it? Oh…I know how bout I call you Ruto for short,” she cheered. For the first time she got a reaction from the boy. Turning his head he looked her straight in the eyes. Their eyes locked forcing all coherency from Suki’s brain.
“WHY? WHY DID YOU DO IT??” a young boy yelled. The boy was no older than eight or nine. His cheeks plump with baby fat, his fluffed brown hair falling in his face covering his pale grey eyes.
“ANSWER ME!!!” The figure in front of him stood heaving. A sword clenched in its right hand. The figure didn’t speak didn’t move just stood there, breathing heavily in and out in and out not bothered at all at the fact that he was covered in the blood of innocence’s.
Another figure stood behind the first. The second one shorter. Both figures stood shrouded in the shadows watching the screaming boy as he cried for answers. The boy was to be spared but his parents were not. The agenda had been clear. Take everything and hollow out the boy’s existence with that said and done. The second figure raised its arm snapping its fingers. The first figure glided back gracefully disappearing into a cloud of smoke instantly.
“w-what? W-what are you,” the boy stammered trying to make some sense out of the incident that just occurred. The now lone figure did not answer instead he turned around disappearing in his own cloud of smoke.
“NO WAIT!!! I WANT ANSWERS!!! GIVE ME ANSWERS!!!” the boy yelled in the nothingness. His voice faded as did his life.
“Whoa,” Suki exclaimed snapping back to reality. “So you are one of those. You’re like me?” The boy nodded. “Who was he? That man?”
Ruto shrugged. Suki sat next to him resting her back against the wall. “My parents died to ya know, when I was five. My brother disappeared that night as well. Eight years that I’ve been here and nothing ever really changes. I’m kinda an outcast though because of my empathy.”
Ruto looked at her than. “You have abilities to don’t you? Like just now you projected your memories into my mind.”
Ruto nodded. “I know something. Like I said before I couldn’t tell who that man was but I’ve seen that kind of magic before. It’s an ancient magic, cursed, and feared. The one’s that want it must truly have dark intent. When they make the deal they sell their souls to a demon. The demon then merges their bodies together permanently marking the human as a servant. In turn the human can call forth the demon to do their bidding.”
Ruto’s mouth lips formed one word. “How?”
“How they do it? Or how I know?”
“Know.” Was the mouthed word this time.
“The library. Like I said I’ve been here a long time, I’ve had reading time. I can take you if you want,” she smiled standing up and offering her hand. He decided to trust her even though he didn’t know her and took the offered hand.
