“That Word”
The things we say everyday,
They affect everyone in each and every way.
Some of us often think before we speak,
While others just can’t seem to keep their tongue in cheek.
We say that we’re past all this awkward racial tension,
But there are plenty that still can’t get over that hump and mention
That Word.
I can’t understand the grip it has,
Its message is like some horrible old jazz.
Why does it play over and over in my head?
It’s in no way a surprise to how it could have spread
Because when those who once suppressed my its mere account,
Now have watched it turn into something else every time they recount
That Word.
So brothers and sisters,
And all you mammies and misters.
Please remember its original intention.
So that we all may practice some abstention,
No more mixed politics about who can say it.
When it would be much easier if well just decided to quit,
That Word.
A cookie to anyone who can guess on what the word is…and don’t be afraid to type it I got tough skin.
