Just Thought You Should Know

I saw a dancer
Caught in motion.
Her skirt swirled ‘round,
A blur of fabric:
Red. It’s passion’s color.

Those soft auburn curls
Caught my fancy.
Your eyes a child’s,
Sweet, wide, innocent:
Pure. My own Prince Charming.

With that dance I
Caught her knowledge.
Dance is delight,
So evanescent:
Gone. Love is just the same.

And one day you were
Caught in a lie.
I adored you,
But you led me on:
Fake. Broken hearts don’t heal.
