I
was the source of all energy
dawning gold each morning,
delighting all
until each corner of the world
glowed with my radiance

I
was worshiped, adored,
as someone special
called upon as a god(dess)
with gifts at my fingertips
and slaves at my feet

I
was second-guessed
poked and prodded
challenged and questioned with logic,
dancing at their heals

I
have seen, and cared
watching over the world
with a loving touch

I
die, every day
with pain squeezing the gold out of my heart
until I am nothing but a mess of colours
crying down on earth

I
can't get up.
my legs are bloody and bruised
with your words of mockery and hate
and when I rise,
I'll be dawning blue.
