fin. 10:29 a.m.

-

just streak your makeup around your eyes (with both our hands still clasped)

-

hon, you need to focus

i'm afraid you'll slip away

with every touch i whisper "clear"

though god it's not enough today

(is it ever enough?)

to jolt you back to me

from your desensitizing

prison - your constricting little cage

and i'm realizing

you are falling back

you're shrinking away from

the stolen caresses

the me on your skin

in horrific relenting

a cruel imitation

of acts that were never supposed to be real

to the touch

it's the truth when

i reach for your hand

and my thumb traces

circles

i just want to keep you

/awake/

/here/

/tonight/
