“What we were” by Ink-of-Eden

What we were wasn’t much

Except for that one day

That we fell in love

I swear, the sky was yellow

On that day

When we fell in love

Music filled our ears

As we rocked steadily,

Dancing, on the beach

You were my king

Ruling my heart

When we fell in love

I was your jester

Making you laugh

Till the day you left

Why didn’t you stay?

I could have made you laugh

Until your last day

You could be my king

Until your kingdom was gone

And all you got

Was my beating heart

Would you still loved me, then?

Holding my heart

Isn’t that enough?

I swear, the day was yellow

The day we fell in love

Why did you leave

The next?

We weren’t much

Only two so in love

On that one day

A king and his jester
